Department Description

Oral Medicine is the specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the diagnosis and medical management of conditions affecting the Oral and Maxillofacial region.

Oral and maxillofacial Radiology is concerned with the production and interpretation of images by all modalities of radiant energy that are used for the diagnosis and management of diseases, disorders and conditions of the Oral and Maxillofacial Region. 

Objectives

  • To obtain proper clinical history, examination of the patient, perform diagnostic procedures and order essential radiographic and laboratory tests and interpret them and to arrive at clinical Diagnosis of the Oral and maxillofacial Diseases
  • To perform with competence various intraoral and extra oral radiographic procedures and to provide radiographic diagnosis.
  • Develop adequate communication skills with the patients                                         

Equipment available:  Intra – oral   X- ray machines and OPG machine     

Services/Treatment offered:  Diagnosis and Radiography                    

Skills imparted to students:  

  • Diagnosis of Oral and maxillofacial pathologies
  • Intra oral and extra oral radiographic procedures, Radiographic interpretation of various oral and maxillofacial pathologies
